Norway's only female "vekter" take you on a city walk in the center of Farsund. With a lighted lamp and a morning star, lifeguard Elin shows you her town and you will hear, among other things, about maritime history, privateering times, town fires, witch burnings, architecture and town life both past and present. We recommend a trip up to Varbak, which is the city park at the top of Farsund with a fantastic view over the fjords.

Bird watching

Lista is one of the country's most important resting places for migratory birds, and in the course of a year between 260 and 290 bird species are observed in the area, which is in the top tier in Northern Europe. The spring migration begins early in the year and lasts until mid-June, during this period the migratory birds find their nesting grounds here in the northern part of the world. The autumn migration begins already at the beginning of July for some species and lasts until the end of November. Regardless of the season, life is bustling on Lista, birdwatching is so fascinating because there is so much to discover, you basically just have to stop and look.

The American Lista

Lista has a long history of emigration to America and there are few places in Norway where the American connection is as strong as here. Here you will find American street names, cars, houses, restaurants and shops - and every year the American Festival is organized in Vanse as well as the popular Street Meet events, where young and old gather around old American dollar grins for a pleasant get-together.

There are miles of white sand beaches on Lista with room for everyone, ask the locals which one is their favourite. Here you will get many different answers.

Haviksanden

The white sand dunes tempt people to the beach Haviksanden in the summer. You will find parking, toilets and marked paths to the beach.

Lomsesanden

You can find a shallow bathing beach that families with children really like at Lomsesanden. There is a parking space right by the beach, and there is a jetty there from which you can fish when you want a break from swimming and sunbathing.

Close to the beach is Lomsesanden familiecamping, where you can stay for the entire summer holiday. You can buy ice cream and soft drinks in the kiosk there, even if you are not staying at the campsite.
